Instructions

  • Ensure the substrate is structurally sound, stable, and fully cured. The surface must be clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, wax, laitance, or loose particles. Repair cracks and level irregularities before beginning the application.
  • For large surfaces, check flatness carefully. Uneven areas should be corrected prior to microcement application to ensure uniform thickness and consistent mechanical performance.
  • If applying over tiles, verify that all tiles are firmly bonded. Lightly sand glossy surfaces to improve mechanical adhesion and remove all dust thoroughly.
  • Apply the bonding primer evenly using a roller across the entire floor area. Work methodically in sections to ensure full and uniform coverage. Allow the primer to dry completely, typically 2 to 4 hours depending on temperature and ventilation.
  • Prepare the fine grain mortar with precise water dosage. The required water proportion is 30 to 35 percent of the powder weight. This corresponds to:
    • 3.0 to 3.5 liters of clean water for 10 kg of fine grain mortar.
    • 1.5 to 1.75 liters of clean water for 5 kg of mortar.
    • 300 to 350 milliliters of clean water for 1 kg of mortar.
      Always measure water accurately using a graduated container. Excess water can weaken the mortar, increase shrinkage, and reduce mechanical strength. Insufficient water can make application difficult and compromise adhesion.
  • For large surface preparation, mix mortar in manageable batches to maintain consistent workability and avoid premature setting. Always maintain the same water-to-powder ratio for every batch to ensure uniform color and texture across the entire floor.
  • Pour the measured clean water into a mixing bucket first. If color is required, mix the selected pigment thoroughly into the water before adding the mortar powder. This guarantees consistent coloration across all batches.
  • Gradually add the fine grain mortar powder into the water while mixing with a low-speed electric mixer operating at approximately 400 to 600 rpm. Mix for 2 to 3 minutes until achieving a smooth, homogeneous, lump-free consistency.
  • Allow the mixture to rest for about 1 minute, then remix briefly for 30 seconds before application. Do not add additional water after mixing, as this may negatively affect strength and surface uniformity.
  • Apply the first coat of fine grain mortar using a stainless steel trowel. Spread a thin, even layer of approximately 1 mm thickness. On large surfaces, work in coordinated sections and maintain consistent trowel pressure to ensure uniform texture and thickness.
  • Allow the first coat to dry for 6 to 8 hours depending on environmental conditions. Drying times may vary with humidity and temperature.
  • Once dry, sand the surface lightly using sandpaper with grain 120 to 180 to remove minor imperfections and ensure proper intercoat adhesion. Remove all dust thoroughly using a vacuum.
  • Prepare a second batch of mortar using exactly the same water ratio of 30 to 35 percent of powder weight. Consistency in water dosage across batches is critical for large floor areas to avoid color variations.
  • Apply the second coat in a thin layer of approximately 1 mm thickness. Use overlapping and controlled trowel movements to create a uniform decorative finish. Avoid excessive thickness to reduce drying time and minimize the risk of cracking.
  • Allow the second coat to dry completely, typically 12 to 24 hours depending on room conditions.
  • Sand the fully dried surface with fine sandpaper (grain 180 to 220) to refine the finish and achieve smoothness. Remove all dust carefully before proceeding.
  • Apply the pore filler evenly using a roller. This step closes micro-pores, enhances smoothness, and improves resistance to stains and moisture. Allow to dry for 4 to 6 hours. Light sanding may be required after drying.
  • Apply the first coat of microcement varnish using a clean microfiber roller. Work systematically in sections to avoid overlaps or visible lines.
  • Allow the first varnish coat to dry for 4 to 6 hours. Lightly sand with very fine sandpaper (grain 220 to 320) to promote adhesion between coats. Remove dust completely.
  • Apply a second coat of microcement varnish for full protection. For large floors exposed to heavy commercial traffic, a third coat is recommended to maximize durability and abrasion resistance.
  • Avoid foot traffic for at least 24 to 48 hours after the final varnish application. Full mechanical resistance is typically achieved after 5 to 7 days. Avoid placing heavy furniture during this curing period.
  • Clean tools immediately after use with water before the material hardens.
  • Store all kit components in tightly sealed containers in a dry place, protected from extreme temperatures, to maintain product quality and long-term performance.
