Instructions
- Ensure the substrate is stable, clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, oil, wax, or loose particles. In kitchen environments, degreasing is particularly important. Use a suitable cleaner to remove any cooking residues before starting.
- Repair cracks, fill holes, and level irregularities if necessary. For application over tiles, ensure all tiles are firmly bonded and lightly sand glossy surfaces to improve adhesion.
- Apply the bonding primer evenly with a roller or brush. The primer promotes optimal bonding between the substrate and the microcement layers. Allow it to dry completely, typically 2 to 4 hours depending on room temperature and ventilation.
- Prepare the fine grain mortar with precise water dosage. The recommended water proportion is 30 to 35 percent of the powder weight. This corresponds to:
- 3.0 to 3.5 liters of clean water for 10 kg of mortar.
- 1.5 to 1.75 liters of clean water for 5 kg of mortar.
- 300 to 350 milliliters of clean water for 1 kg of mortar.
Always measure water accurately using a graduated container. Too much water may weaken the mechanical properties and reduce durability, while too little water may make application difficult and affect adhesion.
- Pour the measured water into a clean mixing bucket first. If color is desired, mix the selected pigment thoroughly into the water before adding the mortar powder. This ensures consistent color distribution across the entire mixture.
- Gradually add the fine grain mortar powder into the water while mixing with a low-speed electric mixer operating at approximately 400 to 600 rpm. Mix for 2 to 3 minutes until you obtain a smooth, homogeneous, lump-free paste.
- Allow the mixture to rest for about 1 minute to stabilize. Remix briefly for 30 seconds before application. Do not add additional water after mixing, as this can compromise performance and cause color inconsistencies.
- Apply the first coat of fine grain mortar using a stainless steel trowel. Spread a thin, uniform layer of approximately 1 mm thickness. Maintain consistent pressure and angle to achieve an even finish.
- Allow the first coat to dry for 6 to 8 hours depending on ambient conditions. Drying time may vary based on humidity and substrate absorption.
- Once dry, sand the surface lightly using sandpaper with grain 120 to 180 to remove trowel marks or minor imperfections. Thoroughly remove all dust with a vacuum and clean cloth before applying the next layer.
- Prepare a second batch of mortar using exactly the same water ratio of 30 to 35 percent of the powder weight to ensure consistent color and texture.
- Apply the second coat in a thin layer of approximately 1 mm thickness. Use controlled and overlapping trowel movements to create the desired decorative effect. Avoid excessive thickness to prevent cracking and prolonged drying.
- Allow the second coat to dry completely, typically 12 to 24 hours depending on temperature and ventilation.
- Sand the dried surface with fine sandpaper (grain 180 to 220) to refine the finish and remove minor irregularities. Remove all dust carefully.
- Apply the pore filler evenly using a roller or flexible trowel. This step seals micro-pores, enhances smoothness, and improves stain resistance. Allow to dry for 4 to 6 hours. Light sanding may be performed if needed after drying.
- Apply the first coat of microcement varnish using a clean microfiber roller. Spread evenly without creating excess buildup or streaks.
- Allow the first varnish coat to dry for 4 to 6 hours. Lightly sand with very fine sandpaper (grain 220 to 320) to promote adhesion between coats. Remove all dust.
- Apply a second coat of microcement varnish for full protection. For kitchen floors exposed to heavy traffic or frequent cleaning, a third coat is recommended for enhanced durability and chemical resistance.
- Avoid heavy use, water exposure, or placement of heavy furniture for at least 48 hours after the final varnish application. Full curing and maximum resistance are typically achieved after 5 to 7 days.
- Clean tools immediately after use with water before the material hardens.
- Store all components tightly sealed in a dry place, protected from extreme temperatures, to maintain optimal product quality.
